Networking

Networking is a key aspect

Networking is a key aspect of the work of GNWS to unite women and the women’s shelter movement globally to end violence against women and their children.

Networking enables us to foster and support the development of international, national and regional networks and is effective at supporting the development of one strong global voice.

Networking opportunities

GNWS highly values and promotes networking opportunities for women’s shelters and centres working to end violence against women. When women’s shelters and crisis centres are able to connect, we often identify common barriers that survivors are facing; we learn about innovative and helpful approaches that other women’s shelters are using to support a woman’s safety. By networking with each other, we also better anticipate and address new ways perpetrators being abusive, for example, by misusing technology to stalk.

Through GNWS board meetings, our World Conference of Women’s Shelters, our Global Shelter Data Count, our international policy campaigns, and our other advocacy work, the Global Network of Women’s Shelters is committed broadening the scope and reach of networking activities for women’s shelters and centres, transitional houses, refuges, and other feminist organizations working to end violence against women and their children.
